Voting, elections, and stuff
Many things are going on these days which are difficult to
think about, or mostly comprehend. I'm not sure how unusual
this situation is, in the wider picture, but no doubt pretty
difficult.
So, it seems a bit off maybe to focus on this issue of voting,
that is just where I am at, right now.
First consider a totalitarian state with a Dairy Queen. How
totalitarian we don't know, how Dairy Queen, we don't know.
Now imagine a group of people traveling from say, A to B.
Now, the Dairy Queen might be right on their route or
just a little bit off. Now, somebody asks, " who wants
to stop at Dairy Queen ". This is in fact an election or
vote in a totalitarian state, which indicates that even in
a totalitarian state some voting probably goes on as long
a they have a Dairy Queen.
Now there are various important aspect of the scenario we can
examine. First we might think about motivation. Why was the
question asked in the first place? In some ways however, it seems
the benefits are more important.
What are these benefits. Most important thing, I think is
that it allows people to understand how they relate to each
other, and what is there connections. For example some might
think a break in the journey might be a benefit for various
reasons. Another might think, " our priority is A to B , and we
should not be diverted in any way ". So a conversation might
develop there from diverging views. I think that in the
end, some better understanding will develop regardless of
where they arrive. In other words, this little exercise
might improve what some might think of as, group cohesion.
Perhaps, they will discover what is more important:
The journey or the destination?
