A little bit about knowledge
Firstly this follows along with learning, as a method for basically " getting better ",
in various ways, perhaps connected to healing as well. But certainly, one of the
objectives of learning is a thing called knowledge, along with understanding,
information, wisdom, and perhaps other things of that nature.
Now, I just feel that I need to mention, both Richard Feynman and Leonard Susskind,
as examples of two individuals that have been effective in collecting, organizing,
communicating, and even perhaps discovering new knowledge through investigation.
There are obviously many others who have followed and are following in similar paths.
Anyway, a specific example of knowledge may be useful. Most people who use
butter will try to have a spot for it, maybe move it around a bit, but generally try
to be organized about it. Most likely the reason for this, is what happens when
butter is mishandled. The result is generally " a mess " and usually a mess that
is hard to clean up.
Now, the key thing here is that the position of the butter is an item of knowledge.
It is useful for the particular knower, but it is also useful for other people
that might get involved with it. So, it is useful to know this information,
in various ways.
Now if you consider this example a bit, you should see, that the objective
of this knowledge is actions of certain kinds, or the preventions of the
need for actions of other kinds.
So, what does this mean? Well, it should be clear that knowledge
can be valuable in more than one way. Also, looking at the bigger
picture, how we use it, how it progresses or evolves is clearly
important. Also how it is communicated can often be as important
as that knowledge is, in the first place.
To sum up, knowledge can be confusing, confounding, subtle,
mostly in short supply and have all kinds of qualities.
Certainly, we need to reflect on knowledge a bit, have some
gratitude about the knowledge we do have, deal with it carefully,
and do the best we can with the knowledge that is available to us.
