Tension
Looking at early (beginning in 1700's) developments in mathematics and physics
the concept of tension plays a fundamental role. It seems appropriate to mention
the work of Joseph Lagrange and Joseph Fourier. which make up significant
parts of the foundation of modern scientific thought. Ultimately, this notion is
fundamental , as well, in our understandings of quantum systems in a
broad way. Wiki references follow:

Also, there are other areas in which tension plays a significant
role specifically economics, politics, phycology, and even of
course music and art.
Considering how much effort and thought has gone
into this particular topic, you might think we would have
reached some greater understanding of how to deal with
tension, which exists in such a fundamental way in various
systems, more specifically in how to reduce tension in systems,
which are proceeding toward crisis or breakdown states.
But thinking about this, as a general notion of dealing with
tensions, it is mostly about maintenance, fixing, repairing, upgrading,
or rehabilitating and also basically understanding.
But clearly, we can witness in our individual lives, tension also
plays a fundamental role both in relationships as well as
more individual activities and how well we deal with it
is an indicator of how successful these activities proceed.
It is also connected closely to emotions like fear, anger
and other emotions and behaviors.
So another mad rush to the end of the day: Perhaps if this
concept was not so fundamental, in so many ways, it might
be easier for us to visualize and deal with. One thing I
can mention, and is pretty evident, this is not
an issue we can ever avoid, regardless of how much we
might like to.
