Very little about religion


Of course, many people have differing views on this topic, but to begin with I would like

to assert quite strongly, the one thing religion is not is politics.  I believe they are significantly

different.


Now one very common perspective on this is that religion has a deity or not, and that the primary point is that the deity or not is all about punishing the wicked and rewarding --- the good or goodly.  Now, of course this produces some mental tension, because we tend to observe that the wicked do not seem to get punished more than the good or the goodly, which makes you wonder what the heck this deity or not is really all about.


Of course there is a bit of a different perspective, that really religion is more about making our individual lives , and the lives of others, better, regardless of whether we are good - goodly - or wicked.  The deity or not in this case would really be more focused on providing good or valuable information how how and why we should be doing that. 


Now of course, I have to sum up, and all I can think of is John Lennon and -- no religion, too --.which is of course a problem because --- no religion --- is a religion.  Therefore, maybe, we need to use our imagination just a bit more.

Belief, faith, and meaning

  Well, these three concepts are obviously closely connected, but yet you can possibly make distinctions between them.  The first two are of course clearly related and you may even think of faith as a container for some beliefs.  The exact nature of what that container might be or how you might comprehend it, of course, is, kind of, what faith is all about. Okay, on space and time

  Well, it's a lot easier to think about if you just call it a manifold, which is not exactly super simple, but makes it a little easier to think about in terms of how " real " it is. So, this is motivated by article which I did not read, about how real is space and time. In mathematics, of course, this stuff is really real, because without it you can get absolutely nowhere.  But , let us not get too hung up with the math. Now, on a day to day basis of course we have " time " or we don't have any " time ". So, I would have to imagine for your average person, it's pretty darnn real, as of course is space, because, we are always involved with translations, meaning going from one place to another, and also, we put other stuff in spaces.  Now whether you want to believe that the stuff, you are using to jam into the space, is also space, I figure, that's all up to you and what makes you most comfortable. T.V. s and unlimited power

  I have to preface this, with, this could be a very hard train to follow, and I'm just hoping it doesn't crash at the end. I was fortunate, when I was very young to have been in a community, pretty much without T.V. s but in which they were being introduced gradually. So, when I was about 3 or 4 years old we had one, and the first experience I remember with that, was the Wizard of Oz.  I didn't see it completely  because I totally freaked out at the first appearance of the Wicked Witch of the West.  I remember this so distinctly, because I was unable to go into a dark room for about 3 weeks.  I was diagnosed with acute Witch-itis.   Moving on to the unlimited power.  Today, in the world we live in, we have selected, individuals to have practically unlimited power.
