A reasonable premise
There does seem to be a topic on which both democrats and republicans agree. It is mostly a premise that our electoral system may be in need of some improvements. Now, the disagreements arise on the subject of who, what, why, when, where and how. However, it does seem to me that this is a perfectly good topic for discussion and one on which reasonable people, in a reasonable society might be able to find reasonable agreements.
That this is a topic of some importance seems reasonably clear. We do of course have the assumption of reasonableness, which certainly might be able to make an ass out of you and me. Nevertheless, over the years, the American people, speaking more specifically about those in the U.S. have been able to demonstrate a good deal of reasonableness over many decades. In fact, this ability to be reasonable, is a truly inspiring aspect of our social and cultural life. On one issue there may be some clarity, as well, that we have not always lived up to the " reasonable " solutions which we have come up with. So that is a thing.
In conclusion, no conclusion, just a bit of good - ol' fashion, hopefulness.
