Progress, I guess
So the idea of progress, generally, produces some positive feeling, indeed the words
kind of go together in the sense that progress generally indicates the idea of motion
in a positive direction. Some might oppose your notion of progress in different ways.
For example, they might feel your direction is not sufficiently " positive ", in other
words you might be 30 degrees off, and will therefore not end up in the desired location.
Or they might say, you are completely backwards , you are going completely in the wrong
direction. Some might oppose the entire notion of progress, by suggesting, say, progress
is an illusion, because we can not achieve anything " greater " than that which we have
already achieved.
Nevertheless, individually we almost always entertain a notion of progress, which may
only mean walking from one room to the next. Say, for example, the sun shines more
brightly in the next room, and therefore, when we get there we will be warmer.
Ultimately, no matter how you look at it, or I guess I should more more accurately say,
how I am capable of looking at it. Progress, can only be made, one step at a time,
by placing one foot firmly, an positioning the other foot forward.
Sometimes, the " direction " we must go, can be extremely difficult to assess.
