Just a bit on guns

 

So, just trying to be honest, my enthusiasm for guns, as a mechanism or an invention, is pretty low. Could have had something to do perhaps with carrying an M-14 in parades, and then of course, drill teams with M-14s, which can be entertaining until someone gets hit in the head.  

So, generally, they are used in sport, sometimes entertainment, most commonly in a practice we sometimes call " war ", and then again, also in " law " enforcement.  And of course, we did not always have them.  My guess is that if the Romans had them , they would probably have been used in a more ceremonial role, as opposed to actual combat, because they would probably have thought of it as maybe "overkill".  Not sure about that, just a guess. In sport they do target deer a lot, and ask anyone who hunts with a bow, it does make that task, considerably easier. Oh, and I forgot, they are often associated with an activity, sometime referred to as " thuggery ", " criminality ", or generally, highly, " anti-social " behaviors. Most likely, they where inspired by large numbers of people, riding horses, while  dressed in metal suits.

Now, if you consider the situation we have, here on Earth, well, it would be my opinion that, we  have considerably more than we actually " need ", but obviously it should be clear that our "need", is obviously pretty thin, because we have not had them all that long, if you look at history, in the long term.

This better have a conclusion, other wise, it would not be worth much, but simply, I would note, an environment where every one has guns, and everyone is pointing those guns at everyone else, can not be a very healthy environment, in terms of activities we generally like to participate in, such as art and creativity, just being out and about, and other meaningful and productive encounters.  It seems like, if they are used at all, it should be for activities that benefit the largest number of people, and I could only assert, but most likely, that would mean, as little as necessary, in the proper environment, at the proper time.  And if they all went silent for sometime, that would most likely be a " good " thing, for everyone.

  It seems to me that one  activity which many people enjoy as well as participate in or engage with is puzzle solving.  Part of the enjoyment  in puzzle solving is the actual conclusion where all the pieces are in place. Belief, faith, and meaning

  Well, these three concepts are obviously closely connected, but yet you can possibly make distinctions between them.  The first two are of course clearly related and you may even think of faith as a container for some beliefs.  The exact nature of what that container might be or how you might comprehend it, of course, is, kind of, what faith is all about. But talking about belief by itself, it seems pretty clear to me that what you actually do, at any given time is somehow connected to what you might believe, which is kind of handy and convenient, because you can, kind of, figure out , more or less , what you do believe by what you in fact do, and then, may have some clearer understandings about what you belief , which can also help you navigate some of the actions or activities you engage with. Okay, on space and time

  Well, it's a lot easier to think about if you just call it a manifold, which is not exactly super simple, but makes it a little easier to think about in terms of how " real " it is. So, this is motivated by article which I did not read, about how real is space and time. In mathematics, of course, this stuff is really real, because without it you can get absolutely nowhere.  But , let us not get too hung up with the math. Now, on a day to day basis of course we have " time " or we don't have any " time ". So, I would have to imagine for your average person, it's pretty darnn real, as of course is space, because, we are always involved with translations, meaning going from one place to another, and also, we put other stuff in spaces.  Now whether you want to believe that the stuff, you are using to jam into the space, is also space, I figure, that's all up to you and what makes you most comfortable.
