preeminence and impermanence
This could be confusing, but just consider, how civilizations which might be
preeminent at any given time, lapse, in that station and another civilization
might arise to that preeminent status.
It's a lot easier to visualize on a more personal level, in that some individual
which may reach a preeminent state is superseded by some one who
then becomes preeminent, in various fields , like art , or sports, or other
vocations and occupations.
When we consider nations or other types of organization in our time,
it is somewhat goofy ( can't think of a better word ) , to think that
some particular organization might be - de facto - preeminent for
some particular reason. In the case of nations, it is much easier to
consider, that many or all of them have preeminent qualities and
even some of them may retain these qualities over time.
If that is true, then it does seem like greater co-operation might be
a good way to progress, since many of these qualities can perhaps
enhance others. Certainly, if you consider valuable qualities, then
you would expect them to be distributed rather broadly and not
particularly concentrated only it one or another location. Also,
you can reduce this same principal to a smaller scope, and expect
some similar results.
At the end of the day, whether or not this sounds good or
reasonable, it is necessary to overcome many practical
hurdles in order to achieve seriously beneficial results.
However, even some serious, if minor, effort in this arena, can
often lead to good outcomes.
Seems like a lot of stuff is like that. The effort part is usually
the hardest thing to overcome.
