Something, likely redundant
I remember some story about Einstein, not sure if it's true, that he used
to imagine traveling at the speed of light on a bicycle. I am not
sure if he finally concluded how fast we are all traveling.
One of the first things, when you think about that, is the rotation of the
earth, which means we are all traveling round and round on the earth
at about 1000 mi/hr. So in one second , 1000/hr * 3600 s/hr * 2 /10000 ft/mi
360 * 2 or about 720 ft/sec. ( 1/5200 = 2 * 10 ^ -4 ). With a lot of momentum
involved. Then of course around the sun 584 * 10^6 miles, in 365 days,
which is like 67,000 mi/hr. and then we are traveling around the core
of the galaxy and moving quite quickly in that way.
So some have actually concluded that we are all moving at the same speed,
which is the speed of light, in the direction of space, but I can't really explain
that. What you must conclude from this is we are all ( everyone on
earth ) traveling pretty damn fast, in mostly the same direction.
And so, if nothing else, everybody on earth shares the experience
of moving so damn fast in the same direction, that you can't
even imagine it.
Does that make you want to jump in the air ? Or find a seat belt ?
