A bit on perspective, from a certain point of view
I think most people would say, generally, that perspective can be a great thing,
usually, until they meet some perspective that makes them uncomfortable or
they disagree with.
So the big question might be, what is the difference between perspective and
prejudice ? Well, I would say mainly and mostly that , that, is a particularly
difficult question. Most likely perspective is something you have, and
prejudice is something somebody else has.
But , rationally speaking there should be a difference, and that difference
should be detectable, maybe even measurable. But, from a practical point
of view, I would say that , that distinction, is subtle and difficult and most
generally requires some efforts to unwind. One way to do that is in
concert with others who might have different perspectives or prejudices,
and to approach it from a somewhat humble, somewhat curious, somewhat
patient , somewhat deliberate, somewhat reflective, and maybe somewhat
caring kind of way. Sometimes, this does work. In theory, it should work
well, but in practice it certainly may take some serious work or effort.
But it's something to work at and something to work for, because the
benefits might definitely out weigh those difficulties, particularly from
a personal way of thinking, because your perspectives will work for
you, while your prejudices will often leave you in more difficult
situations.
