Mysteries in, around, and through the Earth

Kinda' of a blank draft from a different blog, which was going to be titled - So Why? So why am I writing on a blog, I believed I had completed, with the knowledge that anyone who had been reading this -- blog --, would no longer have much confidence it my writing, on account of I already told you it was over and done. Well, I just feel a bit too feisty to talk about Why Is it Cold in Duluth ? , and so this is kind of a refection on what technology is, and where technology is going in the near term.  So years ago I started a blog about --- how wonderful --- the 21st century -- would be , could be --- , but that didn't work out, and it ended up being all about war, why and what of war.  Obviously war and technology are connected and so in retrospect I guess , I  became confused or befuddled in the context of what I had initially began to think about.  It happens.   So think about the technology of the 20th century and I can say from the point of view ...

This is more of an epilogue

So , it was going to go more into the intro of Why Is It Cold In Duluth?, but it would be to hard tor really work that in and so, this is all about the sense of dread, not really cold, but something like cold that may be " gripping ", or a least biting on the heals of this great or Great, or maybe just pretty good nation we sometimes call U.S.A.,  at one time mostly Uncle Sam.   So, I don't know , but going back to Why Is It Cold in Duluth?, is it me ?, is it you ?, or are we probably going to freeze, like solid, in 10 minutes ? So, just plugging Why Is It Cold in Duluth ?, 1300 page to reach the conclusion of Why Is It Cold in Duluth?

Consciousness and conflict

Well, this may be it? So, as maybe noted by many, consciousness is a pretty involved, and possibly somewhat convoluted line of thought.  Many people have fairly specific thoughts on this and much has been written and discussed on the topic.  In particular there is currently a whole branch of medicine in which consciousness figures prominently. So, the question sometimes arises as to whether we may consider the natural world as conscious.  By that I mean mostly those inhabitants of the natural world, like other mammals, birds, plant life, etc.  Some would affirm the " consciousness " of the animal kingdom but often note there is a categorial difference between human beings and other animals.  Certainly it is easy to make a distinction between other animals and say plant life.  Well, obviously it is a deep topic, and one of concern to us all in various ways. As to the issue of conflict, is conflict inherent in consciousness itself ? Well,  when yo...

Another digression

Hopefully a brief digression...  So, one of my most difficult computer programming projects was an automated version of Todd-Coxeter Coset Enumeration, written in Fortran in the mod 1970s.  The project took many months, mostly in the " design " phase, which was done using flowcharts, which I created a vast number of, and then the actual coding phase,  which " worked ", but I was never sure if it was complete and ended up " abandoned ", in my college math department office, and effectively --- lost ---.  It was coded on cards, about 450 , and so when the card deck was abandoned, then , the ability to reproduce it was mostly lost, although I did have " printouts ".  Now, after  20 + years in the computing field, I have unsuccessfully tried to reproduce it.  This is not a super big deal for me, because I have seen more - " modern " code, related to this, but the concepts involved are of course a bit subtle. At the end of the day, what'...

More on - dipolar, etc

First, I kinda' have to mention again, this blog is probably coming to an end , soon. Anyway, to start out, I watched a short interview with Dr. Sarfatti last night and, all I can say is ,he appeared to be in a good mood, feeling vindicated for his long trek with addressing the theoretical side of UAP phenomena, as that subject evolved, for some time.  I think he does have a pretty precise time table of events there, so as he was in a " good " mood, I was pretty impressed. Good mood Dr. Sarfatti, is certainly a step up from Bad mood Sarfatti.  But the subject of UFOs/UAPs is clearly another example of quite " bipolar " thought processes.  Anyway, this is just kinda' an aside, which there is a general consensus , might not be a good thing. So back to bipolar first, must introduce Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, wiki link follows: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Teilhard_de_Chardin The key idea he introduced is the idea of an "evolving noosphere, sort o...

Something on dualistic or bipolar or binary thought and EPR

So, this might end up long and tedious , but we can only hope for the best. Anyway, I have used the notion of " bipolar " thinking mostly in connection with Norbert Wiener as in:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cybernetics:_Or_Control_and_Communication_in_the_Animal_and_the_Machine but more specifically with his book -- The Human Use of Human Beings --- okay briefly connecting back to the Koan Mu, a dualistic thought is of the form, It is this and not this. So in the Koan Mu, the question is , --- is the Buddha Nature in the dog? --- and hence we get the Master's reply, Mu ... Now, we can see this in many things, for example Complementarity, ala Bohr: It is a particle, therefore, it is not a wave, or visa versa. Also, American politics, ala , I am a Republican, therefore I am not a Democrat.  Now, of course, bipolar is medical terminology , currently, and so it can be somewhat misunderstood from the perspective of The Human Use of Human Beings, in which Wiener expresses ...

Some existential stuff

So, the sky is blue? Could be, doesn't have to be. The sun is yellow or orange? Could be, doesn't have to be. The grass is green? Could be, doesn't have to be. I locked my keys in my car? Could be, but actually it is, and that's a problem

Addendum to previous post

For what it's worth, I also carried an M1 in parades, which , you might say is a "horse" of a different color.

Just a bit on guns

So, just trying to be honest, my enthusiasm for guns, as a mechanism or an invention, is pretty low. Could have had something to do perhaps with carrying an M-14 in parades, and then of course, drill teams with M-14s, which can be entertaining until someone gets hit in the head.   So, generally, they are used in sport, sometimes entertainment, most commonly in a practice we sometimes call " war ", and then again, also in " law " enforcement.  And of course, we did not always have them.  My guess is that if the Romans had them , they would probably have been used in a more ceremonial role, as opposed to actual combat, because they would probably have thought of it as maybe "overkill".  Not sure about that, just a guess. In sport they do target deer a lot, and ask anyone who hunts with a bow, it does make that task, considerably easier. Oh, and I forgot, they are often associated with an activity, sometime referred to as " thuggery ", " crim...
